Animation Project October2009

Codename: Pelangi.

A little bit of info for the moment. Basically my biggest animation project yet. Its for something big event that'll happen in Brunei on 31st October 2009.

Alhamdulillah. This is my opportunity and rezeki to....how can i say it, benchmark my ability in animation?

So Afif animation season 2 will have to be onhold at the moment. I have to tell my friends at RegalBlue Production for an alternative date of submission.

Hope everybody's well and healthy..including me! Until then..stay tuned for updates!

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1430H!! :)

Xibitkomik issue 2 update

Hmm…dilemma. To continue a good cause or venturing a better project?

Xibitkomik was both a success and a failure. Successes include realizing a dream in just a few months, a platform for new comic artists and good sales during book fair march 2008. It’s also a failure just because I wont be able to produce the 2nd issue, mangkali ada mangkali nada.

It was also a fun and challenging. Fun because its what we love – comic.
Challenging in terms of printing obstacles, book fair, regulations, sponsorship etc etc. Payah nya mu. But, it can be done.

Now it all goes down to personal priorities. Me and my wife just got ourselves a little princess. I had a clear goal for this remaining half of 2009 and next year onwards. To pursue in 2D animation.
I have been doing animation since 2004 and it was rewarding. None can compare for 2009 me@TV’s (by Regalblue Production) Afif.
The animation is 15 episodes 2 minutes each.

Currently Im doing the Afif 2nd season. So payah lah kan buat xibitkomik.

However I will update some tips, updates on this blog…macam lama sudah inda ku update haaa?.

The journey balum abis, so we just continue what we do best….berkarya!

Talent scouting for upcoming animation project'09.

I'm scouting for local Bruneians for a local animation project as freelancers.

Who i'm looking for:
1. character designer.
simply just design the characters with pose/action. and able to do props too. (designing stuff like multibarrel shockwave ice cream shotgun, pink flowery spaceships etc)

2. background artists.
just draw the background scenes according to the storyboard.

What I expect
1. On time
If A is late, so B have to wait, and C can't do anything yet except staring a blank adobe premiere workspace.

2. consistent and able to adapt new drawing styles.
Dexter's lab, samurai jack have similar styles because it gendy tartowsky's technique.
But if it needs to be like naruto, dragon ball, or teen titan, be prepared to adapt, dudes.

What can u expect
1. Payment.
When i get the cheque then u get paid. Hence the term freelancers. dont worry i wont take whatever is not mine.
Usually (always) i get paid after the work is finally done.

2. Continuity of projects
Not always, but there are keeping on coming like scary herd of sheeps.

What u might want to know about me.
1. local bruneian cartoonist since 1999 who do freelance animation works since 2005.
2. clients include Suci, AITI, various local productions and various government departments for promotion thingy.
3. not Adam Phillips league, yet, but following his footsteps.

u can email me at dennyazriman@hotmail.com or have a chat at gadong or kiulap.

pls spread the words to whoever might be interested. thanks
until then, keep sketching.

Wacom replacement

I just got a new drawing tablet - genius m609 as a replacement to my beloved wacom graphire 3. sudah almost 5 tahun memakai, nazak tia sudah...($360/5years/365days=20cents per day)

the m609 cost $187. i got twice the lpi and half the cost.

some of the downside are
.the pen needs an aaa battery to operate, but the pen size is perfect for me..macam marker.
.the default shortcut on the tablet cant be off, it can be annoying sometimes
.design of the starting end of the usb cable attaching to the tablet will be prone to failure. my wacom stood the test of wear and tear, its demised was because the usb wire attaching to the tablet loosen over time.

there are cheaper models from genius, but this one looked the grandiest and it is. it doesnt look like its made of cheap plastic.

(my wacom still works fine btw, just need to taped it to desk so the usb wire inda begarak, im considering to sell it for $36. sapa mau?)
